Chamber Info:

The Greater Corner Brook Board of Trade came into existence on August 15, 1912, and was known originally as the Bay of Islands Board of Trade located in Curling. It held its first annual meeting in 1913.

Over the years, it underwent a name change to the Bay of Islands Businessman`s Association. The Association affiliated with the Canadian Board of Trade of Commerce in 1949. In May 1950, the Association changed its name to the Board of Trade of Commerce and moved from Curling to Corner Brook. A branch of the Junior Board of Trade of commerce was begun in 1956 and existed until 1977.

The Board of Trade of Commerce became formally incorporated in 1958. It changed its name to the Greater Corner Brook Board of Trade in 2003 to reflect the fact that it dealt with members outside the City of Corner Brook and that both its present and future spheres of influence more aptly were represented by a board of trade.
