The Rotary Arts Centre volunteer Board and Committee members first gathered in 2009. Made up of members from across the creative community of Corner Brook and the West Coast of Newfoundland they worked hard to fundraise and and plan for  years before doors to the centre opened in January 2015, and it’s been growing ever since!

Starting with just a volunteer staff, it has since hired two full time employees. In 2015 a Theatre Coordinator who works to plan programing and run the technical aspects of the Anthony Insurance Theatre. And in 2016 a Visual Arts Coordinator was introduced to run the OPEN gallery and Tina Dolter Gallery.

e Rotary Arts Centre Committee’s mission is to serve our arts and cultural producers and the public (our local community and tourists alike). Our planning envisions this facility taking the form of a centre that will house space for artists’ studios, public exhibitions, workshops, small theatre performance and rehearsal space to serve visual artists and craftspersons, musicians, actors and dancers — all sectors of arts and culture that can avail of the centre — and serve the public who seeks to enjoy all of the above.

The Rotary Arts Centre has a mandate to:
Establish a multi-faceted Arts Centre which fosters creativity and is accessible to the community;
Bring change to the arts community by fostering an environment that brings people together to experience the exceptional work of artists in Newfoundland;
To determine the needs of the arts community and develop a centre that would address these shortfalls;
To bring people together through the establishment of an Arts Centre — virtual and infrastructural — thereby sparking cohesion and a sense of creativity for both artists and patrons;
Bring about an Arts Centre to accommodate as many of the needs addressed in the vision for both the artist and the public.
To provide an opportunity for emerging artists to work under the mentorship of established artists to help them achieve their professional goals
