To celebrate Innovation Week 2017, a full week of activities will be taking place in Corner Brook!

MONDAY, MAY 8TH
Innovation Week Launch l Boreal Ecosystem Research Initiative (BERI) Lab, Forest Centre, Grenfell Campus  l  11:30 am
Innovation Week 2017 will be officially launched by Mayor Charles Pender and Councillors. Follow us on Facebook Live @navigate.smallbusiness or @gcbbt. Open to public – FREE to attend. Tour of the BERI Lab will be included.


TUESDAY, MAY 9TH
Meet and Greet   l    Fine Arts Atrium, Grenfell Campus   l   10:00 am
This is a FREE networking opportunity featuring a special overview of the Fabrication Shop with guest speakers Dr. Todd Hennessey, Dean of Fine Arts, and Mr. Chris Mathis, President and CEO of  Springboard Atlantic - Your Regional Commercialization Network. Free to attend - everyone is welcome. Refreshments provided compliments of Navigate Entrepreneurship Centre.


WEDNESDAY, MAY 10TH
The Additive Impact: How 3D Printing is Shaping the Future of Advanced Manufacturing l   AS2016 Grenfell Campus   l   10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Facilitated by Reuben Menezes, University of Ontario Institute of Technology, this session will explore the advantages of using additive manufacturing technology, the different technologies available today and how industries are leveraging the capabilities of additive to solve tough engineering and manufacturing challenges. We will also take a look at some key opportunities for the technology, and take a glimpse into the future to see just how far we can push it. Free to attend. Skills Apprenticeship Conference   l   College of the North Atlantic   l   9:00 am – 2:00 pm
This conference is for CNA trades students and provides information on a new Entrepreneur program aimed at promoting education in the skilled trades as a pathway to Entrepreneurship. The Apprenticeship conference includes four learning sessions: Opportunity Identification, Skills Assessment, Business Planning, and Elevator Pitching, finished off with a panel discussion. Hosted by Skills Canada and CBDC.

Observatory Tours    l    Grenfell Campus    l     2:00 pm and 9:00 pm (must be 16+ years of age)
The Grenfell Campus Observatory is home to the only professional telescope in Newfoundland! Since it’s opening in 2012, there have been over 4200 visitors. As part of Innovation Week 2017, Dr. Svetlana Barkanova will be providing two tours (one hour per tour) of the observatory. Participation is Free but registration is required. THURSDAY, MAY 11TH
Skills Work for Women Conference   l   College of the North Atlantic   l    9:00 am – 2:00 pm

Skills Work for Women Conferences are designed to allow female high school students to explore the skilled trade sector through hands-on Try-A-Trade Demonstrations and mentoring sessions with female mentors.  Participants must sign up in advance with Skills Canada: www.skillscanada-nfld.com.

Are you interested in becoming more active in social media but unsure of how to open accounts and create profiles? This session will offer participants an opportunity to receive one-on-one instruction on how to create your social media accounts – Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Participation is Free. FRIDAY, MAY 12TH
GCBBT Luncheon Presentation  l   Corner Brook Civic Centre   l   12:00 - 1:30 pm
A special luncheon presentation by Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, Government of Canada, will feature important infrastructure announcements for the region. Cost to attend is $40 (Chamber/Board members) or $50 (General Admission). Event registration is required – deadline to register is May 10th. To register please email info@gcbbt.com.
